    • @sibilaextremevocal
      @sibilaextremevocal 2 дня назад

      That would be great but I think that there might be more instructors who can do it :D I'm not sure if they are full time teachers or vocalists but they seem to do it on exhale: This guy has solid screams (at least on the speaker on my phone) and shares a few helpful observations. The one that resonated with me was about moving gradually higher but avoiding a point where vocal folds, or the larynx in general, is getting too tight and the airflow is completely stopped because of too much tension. It feels like sliding into a very small gap right before closing the sound too much. In my case it feels a bit as if I was pinching my vocal folds, similarly to setting the lips for whistling - the airflow is very narrow but it's not stopped. m.ruclips.net/video/vIzV2MzOEFc/видео.html&pp=ygUgd2hpc3RsZSByZWdpc3RlciBzY3JlYW0gdHV0b3JpYWw%3D This guy seems to have a very good control over his whistle register: m.ruclips.net/user/shortsWlRr2cJhZIk He is sliding into it from a vocal fry. Czyli to jest prostsze niż wszyscy twierdzą. W wielu miejscach czytałem i dostawałem komentarze, że false cord scream czy fry scream to każdy umie, ale dopiero jak umiesz robić whistle register scream, to jesteś dobry. Dla mnie podstawy false cord były łatwe, ale uważam, że nie są ogólnie banalnie łatwe i nie każdy je szybko opanuje. Fry jest dla mnie wciąż zagadką i nie mogę rozgryźć głośności, chociaż tu wiele osób twierdzi, że fry jest prostszy of fakse cord. Ale whistle register wydaje się byc całkiem osiągalny dzięki Twojemu filimkowi.

      Z tego co obserwuję, to właśnie fry scream sprawia ludziom na świecie większy problem niż false chord. False chord bywa bardzo trudny dla osób, które nie są w stanie z różnych powodów aktywować fałszywych strun. Czasami to wynika z łagodnego usposobienia, bycia uciszanym w czasach dzieciństwa, tłumienia gniewu, problemów z właściwym podparciem, używaniem zbyt dużej ilości powietrza, celowania w jak najniższy czysty dźwięk (podczas gdy fałszywe struny są wyżej niż prawdziwe). W innych przypadkach growl, a potem false chord scream przychodzą stosunkowo łatwo. Trzeba po prostu spędzić trochę czasu nad ćwiczeniem artykulacji, kontrolą oddechu i kompresją, aby nie uciekało za dużo powietrza. Gwizdek nie jest trudny, ale wymaga bardzo dobrej precyzji i częstych ćwiczeń. Inaczej nie da się na nim polegać i raz wyjdzie, a raz nie. Można też łatwo nadwyrężyć krtań, bo bez właściwej precyzji bardzo się ją ściska. Nie polecam też gwizdka osobom, które nie umieją jeszcze zwykłego fry screamu albo false chordu, bo można łatwo przyzwyczaić głos do tego, że krzyczy się jedynie bardzo wysoko, przez co może być trudniej zrobić zwykły high, mid albo low scream. Czyli generalnie próg wejścia nie jest zbyt wysoki albo wymagający, ale odblokowanie gwizdka, to dopiero początek zabawy. Natomiast to ćwiczenie często zaskoczyło osoby, z którymi ćwiczę, bo nagle okazywało się, że potrafią przywalić dobrym gwizdkiem. Niestety, jeśli potem tego nie ćwiczyli albo robili to niepoprawnie, to im to uciekało.

      @@sibilaextremevocal jak ze wszystkim, ucieka jak nie ćwiczysz. Jak sobie zrobiłem zbyt długą przerwę od ćwiczenia FC growl, to potem nie potrafiłem z siebie wydać najprostszego i najkrótszego dźwięku bez urachamiania zwykłych strun głosowych. Czyli był potrzebny powrót do podstaw. Co do fry scream, to fakt jest trudny, bo koncepcja, że się robi vocal fry i potem się go podgłaśnia jest błędna, a niestety wiele osób tak to pokazuje. U mnie nauka podstaw FC zajęła tydzień, więc coś musiało być w moim życiu co spowodowało, że wiedziałem szybko co i jak robić.

    • @sibilaextremevocal
      @sibilaextremevocal 2 дня назад

      Vocal fry może (ale nie musi, bo istnieje wiele innych metod, które w ogóle go nie używają) działać, ale jedynie jako jeden z kilku elementów, a nie główny składnik, i tylko jeśli zostanie wykorzystany w prawidłowy sposób. Wiele osób narzeka na vocal fry, ale większość z tych osób nie potrafi go użyć właściwie z innymi elementami (szybszy przepływ powietrza i wyższe częstotliwości drgań, kompresja), we właściwych proporcjach między nimi. Typowy błąd to np. próba podgłaśniania vocal fry'a - nie poznałem nikogo kto by tak wydobył z siebie fry scream, a jedynie słyszałem o 2 osobach, które uczą tego w ten sposób, ale prawdopodobnie robiąc vocal fry głośniej, po prostu łamią swój głos i w ten sposób wchodzą we właściwy dźwięk, ale to tylko domysł, bo nie było mi dane posłuchać próbek tych osób.

    Question: is false chord singing basically kargyraa?

    • @sibilaextremevocal
      @sibilaextremevocal 2 дня назад

      It engages the same tissues - the vestibular/ ventricular/ false folds, BUT when you perform kargyraa your true vocal folds also work, and when you perform false chord scream or growl, you mainly, or even only, engage your false folds. That's the biggest difference.

I've got the sound down but I'm having a little trouble being able to annunciate words with the scream without going full on smeagle lol. My goal is to sort of sound like the singer of "After the burial". Specifically the song "Wolves amongst ravens." A couple of weeks ago I accidentally went out to whistle fry, but since then I haven’t been able to repeat it. I don't remember how I found the right position, but I remember that it required a lot of tension and support. At the same time, a clean whistle remains inaccessible to me; I have never been able to reach it with my vocal cords so that it sounds like yours. You say that the whistle does not require tension. So I got my whistle fry the wrong way? I didn't feel any pain or discomfort.

    • @sibilaextremevocal
      @sibilaextremevocal 6 дней назад

      It requires tension but it doesn't feel like constriction or very intense effort in the larynx, and a lot of people confuse those two things. It's like a delicate "pinch", not squeezing something. I will record a new tutorial soon, but firstly I need to finish a new album.

      I accepted the fact that I suck at inhales and don't pratice them because I can make any sound I'm interested in on exhale. I think that your teacher is right and some of my students do it the same way (I don't teach inhales, students who can do them learned them on their own before contacting me). Also, I observe that the students who use inhales a lot have similar struggles when we practice fry scream (on exhale)- they tend to tighten a lot, not coordinate the support with their voice, push more air or sound whispery. I've observed those things in case of twelve people I've practiced with, that learned inhales on their own before practicing exhales. Those that started with exhales and then learnt inhales don't have such problems. I don't know if it's about a muscle memory, habits or something else.

    HI there, soo I bought the Will Ramos course and I have to disagree with your critique. After struggling to learn screaming for a while, this course really unlocked a lot for me. I think you're totally missing the point of Chris's course here. It’s true Chris doesn't teach in a conventional style, BUT this is WHY I love his teaching and his courses- he teaches you to discover your voice and learn independently, a skill many teachers overlook. It might not suit everyone, but it's been invaluable on my singing journey. This course is essentially a beginner's screaming course focused on self-discovery. You say you're looking at it from a beginner's perspective, but this is not actually possible to do, since you're not actually a beginner. When you talk about whether the course is worth the money, you're speaking more from a teacher's point of view than a beginner's. It's okay to have that viewpoint, but I gotta say, your criticism does come off a bit arrogant. It's hard to fully understand how beginners feel when your not a beginner anymore. Perhaps it could have been better marketed as a beginner course, I’m not sure? But I do think advanced screamers can still learn some things from this course as well, even though it is geared towards beginners though it may not be AS valuable for them. I think it is important for advanced students to also go back to basics from time to time and continue re-visit even the most basic techniques. Personally, I love this course because you learn alongside Chris and Elizabeth, who have VERY different singing backgrounds and styles. They're beginners too, which is incredibly valuable for beginner screamers like us. It shifts your perspective on your own journey. Look, What other teacher will show you their vocal journey? No one is doing this. Singers typically showcase all the polish and flash, (teachers too) but not the journey. Then, students wonder why they don’t sound like the pros or as good as the teacher instantly, leading them to feel discouraged and give up. However, this approach is empowering and motivating! No one is special; we all have voices and can learn to sing, growl, etc. And IMHO we should all let our voices out :) Chris brought in Will Ramos, a seasoned rock star, to assist in the course, providing professional demonstrations of developed scream techniques. Will's unfiltered demonstrations in the course were particularly helpful. The course showcases both Will's polished performances and Chris and Elizabeth's progression in learning to scream, including what might be considered "bad takes." Chris noticeably improves as the course progresses because he's learning alongside us, not just instructing. This perspective of Chris as a student rather than the sole authority figure was personally inspiring. For me, seeing this journey helped manage expectations and encouraged realistic growth. Learning to sing and scream proficiently takes years of dedicated practice-it's a journey, not an instant transformation. Now, about the price tag, yes I will agree, it is not cheap, and it might seem steep, but let's consider it from a business standpoint. Remember, this course benefits the lives of three individuals, each relying on it for income to support their lives and families. Consider the high cost of living in America compared to other countries, and the price makes even more sense. For instance, a low rent cost in America can easily be 8 to 10 times the cost of the course. Similarly, basic expenses like groceries can tally up to $600 a month for just one person in the USA. Also, the initial cost included live sessions with Will Ramos, a rock star! And I imagine editing and producing a course like this isn't cheap! That said, neither is lessons. Base costs for screaming harsh vox lessons is 100$. If you were to invest $100 in lessons every week for a span of two years, you'd end up spending nearly $10,000 in total. It's unreasonable to anticipate achieving the same level of learning from a $300 course as you might from $10,000 worth of lessons over two years. It's like comparing apples to oranges! Some individuals may require more guidance and benefit from weekly lessons this is true, and that's perfectly okay. However, I don’t think this course is meant to provide that or be a substitution for some one taking weekly lessons. This course serves as an excellent starting point on the vocal journey. This course is meant for beginners. It won't make you a pro overnight-you need to work hard for that! But at $366, it's cheaper than four coaching lessons, and I believe you'll learn more from it too. Just my opinion. If your want weekly interaction, Chris offers his "Sing Together 365" course, via a monthly subscription fee and that is also significantly more affordable than traditional vocal lessons. So, for those seeking more hands-on guidance, this alternative is readily available from chris, and is STILL cheaper than regular weekly lessons from a coach. I have learned SOO much form 365! Regarding your critique of the course setup, I agree that Will could have had a more prominent role. (As a female, I would have liked more time for Elizabeth's screams and growls too.) There's always room for improvement in hindsight. However, it's essential to note that Will, as a rock star, isn't primarily a teacher and may not have the expertise to lead a course. Chris and Elizabeth, the experienced teachers involved, have extensive knowledge in course creation and teaching. It wouldn't be realistic to expect Will to be the main instructor. Without Chris's contribution, this course might not have come to fruition. Also, In your tips at 21:00, you talk about various techniques like practice methods, larynx positions, childlike voice, twang, vowel modification, and more. Some of these are addressed in Will's course, but what's not covered is COVERED in Chris's free vocal course, "Discover Your Voice." That’s all fundamental singing information that Chris does include in his teachings. In my opinion, Chris excels at promoting vocal freedom through his unique approach of making unconventional sounds, which I haven't seen from any other teacher. If you wanna break out of the traditional vocal instruction box, and become a self learning singer, I highly recommend people check out chris’ channel and his courses. <3 ALL of this said, I think people need to find the right teacher that speaks to them, to help them learn... sometimes someone will explain something in a way that just makes it click for you. We all learn in different ways because we are all different. People should not be afraid to learn from various teachers throughout their singing journey. Absorb all the content you can, even if you think you are a pro, and you have been doing it forEVER you can always learn something new. Never think that what you know is the end all be all of everything. There is more than 1 way to do things, always approach learning with an open mind <3 Screaming growling is NEW vocal territory for vocal teaching. I am just glad there are now people out there exploring the techniques and vocal science behind it all. Congrats to anyone who made it through this LONG tome of a review :) LOL

      Hello, thanks for writing such a detailed review and sharing your perspective! To avoid chaos I will place a part of your review and reply to it. I guess that you don't expect any reply from me because your comment is a reply to my video but I don't like to leave comments without any reply from my side. :) Some things that you mentioned are included in other comments but I will refer to the as well. "I think you're totally missing the point of Chris's course here. It’s true Chris doesn't teach in a conventional style (...)" - I didn't mention anything about conventional or unconventional ways of teaching, especially nothing about that the unconventional ways of teaching are "bad" - I think quite the opposite and from what I observe during lessons or group vocal workshops, the best results are achieved when both ways are combined and adjusted to the needs, level of experience and aims of each of the students, but ok. "BUT this is WHY I love his teaching and his courses- he teaches you to discover your voice and learn independently, a skill many teachers overlook. " - A lot of teachers, especially those more "conventional" tend to bend the students to their (the teacher) will, instead of helping them (the students) to discover their own vocal potential and helping them unleash it. That's true, but I don't see a connection between this fact and the review of this course. Like ok, I get that there are many narrow-minded teachers and some of them charge the same amount of money for lessons or courses, but it doesn't matter in this case because I'm not comparing anyone and I'm just reviewing this exact course, sharing my observations and things that I've heard from other people that were using it as well (and they were on a different levels of advancement - from beginners to experienced vocalists). A good teacher is alway trying to help the student discover their own potential and provides various ways of unleashing it, and I think that it should be a standard, not something odd or "special". It's something that I would expect from a course or singing lessons, and it's something I try to follow as a teacher as well. "It might not suit everyone, but it's been invaluable on my singing journey." - that's your opinion and experience, and that's great BUT when it comes to the courses, it's good to include a lot of different approaches (or at least more than one or two), tools and methods so that the people with different approaches to learning will find something useful and effective for them. This is something that is missing in this course and I mentioned it in the video and in replies to some comments too. I experienced something like this in 2013 when I was practicing with the Zen of Screaming (I think that the course with Will Ramos is more practical though) - "whether the presented approach in the course suits you or you can go fck yourself and figure out everything on your own" - it's not how courses should work, especially if their creators talk about the science, when science is something about achieving repeatable, consistent results, sometimes using different ways that lead to the very same aim. In theory, what they talk about is semi-scientific (more like a popular science documentary, but that's ok), but when it comes to the practice, the "science" is missing. Of course, it's not possible to meet every kind of approach or expectation, but it's worth trying. "This course is essentially a beginner's screaming course focused on self-discovery. " - it should be titled this way. I wonder if its sales would be as good as they are now, especially with such a high price xD "You say you're looking at it from a beginner's perspective, but this is not actually possible to do, since you're not actually a beginner. When you talk about whether the course is worth the money, you're speaking more from a teacher's point of view than a beginner's. It's okay to have that viewpoint, but I gotta say, your criticism does come off a bit arrogant. It's hard to fully understand how beginners feel when your not a beginner anymore." - I talk from a perspective of someone that I was in the past, and because of practicing with beginners, and because of the fact that I keep on learning new things that I'm not good at, this feeling stays very fresh in me. To be effective teacher, I have to understand the struggles and mindset of beginners, I have to be able to refresh what I felt, thought and did when I was a beginner. It's a bit like you were reborn but you clearly remember the things from your past life or something. "Perhaps it could have been better marketed as a beginner course, I’m not sure? But I do think advanced screamers can still learn some things from this course as well, even though it is geared towards beginners though it may not be AS valuable for them. I think it is important for advanced students to also go back to basics from time to time and continue re-visit even the most basic techniques." - honest and straightforward marketing would kill the sales. You have to know that Chris is a pretty well-educated businessman. You can check it on his LinkedIn if you like. Getting back to the basics is always good, but again, I don't think it's a good price because there are many other solid courses that would be good enough for a much lower price. "Personally, I love this course because you learn alongside Chris and Elizabeth, who have VERY different singing backgrounds and styles. They're beginners too, which is incredibly valuable for beginner screamers like us. It shifts your perspective on your own journey." - it is valuable but they should prepare more if they will make people follow their example. There is a great imbalance between what they know and what they present when they practice, and such a huge amount of "not the best takes" has a very negative impact on the learning process of the participants because they need to also know and follow well-performed takes, and those good takes should be the majority of the all takes. I talked about it in the video a lot, and I also mentioned it in some replies to comments. "Look, What other teacher will show you their vocal journey? No one is doing this. Singers typically showcase all the polish and flash, (teachers too) but not the journey. Then, students wonder why they don’t sound like the pros or as good as the teacher instantly, leading them to feel discouraged and give up. However, this approach is empowering and motivating! No one is special; we all have voices and can learn to sing, growl, etc. And IMHO we should all let our voices out :)" - showing the journey is cool, including imperfect takes is also helpful, but again, it's much more effective, safe and healthy for the participants to listen to and follow proper takes, and when the good takes are the majority of all takes. Also, why didn't they spend more time on recording their "journey"? It would be so much more helpful for the participants! You could really observe their gradual growth as extreme vocalists and see the actual efficiency of their own program and it's impact on their progress. Why didn't they do it? It's because it would take much more time and probably kill the sales because it would take too long. It's very clear that when it comes to this course, the business and money come first. And that's cool, but it doesn't show the best intentions of the creators. They knew it would sell well and they didn't feel the need to make this course any better than it is. It's good that at least they made some update with Q&A and Will Ramos routine (which is extremely basic and limited, but better this than nothing). "Chris brought in Will Ramos, a seasoned rock star, to assist in the course, providing professional demonstrations of developed scream techniques" - that's the thing, Will is more like an assistant, not the actual instructor for the most of time, and the course is conducted by people who are great singers, but they don't have enough experience to conduct the extreme vocal course on the most effective level. Will has experience as a vocalist but not as a teacher. Elizabeth and Chirs have experience both in singing and teaching, but they lack the necessary experience (especially in practice) with the extreme vocals. It's a bit like a situation when a person that has problems with seeing is led by a person that can perfectly see but can't hear. Together they seem to have it all but in reality it's very far from perfect. They could spend more time on improving the things that they are not experienced enough. Why didn't they do it? Again, it would take a LOT of time, and time is money.

      "Will's unfiltered demonstrations in the course were particularly helpful" - yes, they were helpful, especially when I switched my mindset from a beginner to someone that can scream and is able to teach it other people. "The course showcases both Will's polished performances and Chris and Elizabeth's progression in learning to scream, including what might be considered "bad takes." - I've already written a few things that perfectly fit to this part of your review. I will only add that they represent only two perspectives - a total beginner and a total vocal badass, and there's nothing in between (it's good that you can at least listen to people in the Q&A, that's some kind of a middle ground, but listening to different people on different levels is never going to be as informative as listening to one person that goes from a beginner to more experienced level). "Chris noticeably improves as the course progresses because he's learning alongside us, not just instructing. This perspective of Chris as a student rather than the sole authority figure was personally inspiring." - that's cool but for a person that records screaming tutorials for about 4 years and charges loads of money for courses, his performance is much below average, except a very few solid takes. Of course, everyone learns in different tempo and comparing one person to another isn't going to help anyone but he is much more than a student because he is a co-creator and co-conductor of the course, and he plays a signifcant role in this whole thing, and because of that I don't see anything wrong about "judging" his performance. "For me, seeing this journey helped manage expectations and encouraged realistic growth. Learning to sing and scream proficiently takes years of dedicated practice-it's a journey, not an instant transformation." - that's true but it also doesn't mean that you can't make a solid progress in a matter of weeks or months, or when you co-create a vocal course. Theoretically, he had everything to achieve much better results (practice plan, exercises, the guidance of Will, experience in singing and his screaming style, experience in teaching and understanding of the anatomy etc.) but for some reason, he didn't achieve them. That's pretty strange, isn't it? Oh, maybe he was preventing himself from the growth to motivate the students, showing them his weaknesses and comforting them? Regardless the answer, for the good of the participants, he should represent a higher level of performance. "Now, about the price tag, yes I will agree, it is not cheap, and it might seem steep, but let's consider it from a business standpoint. Remember, this course benefits the lives of three individuals, each relying on it for income to support their lives and families." - sure, but the customers also have to take care of themselves and their families. I don't see this as an argument that could justify the high price. The price should be justified by the value the participant receives, and the proportions between that value and the price are imbalanced. "Consider the high cost of living in America compared to other countries, and the price makes even more sense. For instance, a low rent cost in America can easily be 8 to 10 times the cost of the course. Similarly, basic expenses like groceries can tally up to $600 a month for just one person in the USA. Also, the initial cost included live sessions with Will Ramos, a rock star! And I imagine editing and producing a course like this isn't cheap!" - again, the customers also have to take care of themselves, their families etc. I would write the same things as earlier. "That said, neither is lessons. It's like comparing apples to oranges!" - are you sure that this course is as effective as taking 1 lesson every week for two years? Where did you get this data? Of course, for some people it might be equally effective (or ineffective), but from what I observe the best progress is achieved when people practice 2-4 times a month 1:1 and in the meantime practice with the course. Those students make the best progress from what I observe since I've published my first course in 2019. When it comes to the efficiency of the courses, those participants that send me recordings and keep me updated about their progress, struggles, observations, ask questions etc., (and take a lesson from time to time, even only 2-4 times a year) make much better progress than those participants that practice only on their own and I hear from them 1-2 times per year. "Some individuals may require more guidance and benefit from weekly lessons this is true, and that's perfectly okay. However, I don’t think this course is meant to provide that or be a substitution for some one taking weekly lessons. This course serves as an excellent starting point on the vocal journey." - if it's not a substitution but more a starting point or a supplementation, than why do you compare the cost of taking weekly lessons over the course of two years and the cost of purchasing the course? :D "This course is meant for beginners. It won't make you a pro overnight-you need to work hard for that! But at $366, it's cheaper than four coaching lessons, and I believe you'll learn more from it too. Just my opinion." - "meant for beginners" - it should be advertised that way. Also, it might be cheaper than those 4 lessons and who cares? As a customer, I'm interested in receiving the highest value for the best price and the price of this course and the received value are imbalanced. "If your want weekly interaction, Chris offers his "Sing Together 365" course, via a monthly subscription fee and that is also significantly more affordable than traditional vocal lessons. So, for those seeking more hands-on guidance, this alternative is readily available from chris, and is STILL cheaper than regular weekly lessons from a coach. I have learned SOO much form 365!" - it's a different product, but ok. How does it relate to this review? :) "Regarding your critique of the course setup, I agree that Will could have had a more prominent role. (As a female, I would have liked more time for Elizabeth's screams and growls too.) There's always room for improvement in hindsight. Chris and Elizabeth, the experienced teachers involved, have extensive knowledge in course creation and teaching. It wouldn't be realistic to expect Will to be the main instructor. Without Chris's contribution, this course might not have come to fruition." - If any of them lacked competence in any area, they should make up for it before creating the course, for the benefit of their students and to create the most helpful product possible, especially at this price and with such a course title. But they didn't. "Also, In your tips at 21:00, you talk about various techniques like practice methods, larynx positions, childlike voice, twang, vowel modification, and more. Some of these are addressed in Will's course, but what's not covered is COVERED in Chris's free vocal course, "Discover Your Voice."" - cool, but how does it relate to the review of this course? The participant doesn't need to know such things and if there is something like that, they should be informed about it, especially if the course is free (but promoting the free stuff isn't a good business move so they don't do it :D). "That’s all fundamental singing information that Chris does include in his teachings. <3" - awesome, but how does it relate to this exact course and the review I recorded? :) "ALL of this said, I think people need to find the right teacher that speaks to them, to help them learn... sometimes someone will explain something in a way that just makes it click for you. We all learn in different ways because we are all different. People should not be afraid to learn from various teachers throughout their singing journey. Never think that what you know is the end all be all of everything. There is more than 1 way to do things, always approach learning with an open mind <3 " - sure, that's true, but again, this is why it's good to include many various ways of achieving the same goal in the courses so that people with different backgrounds, needs and aims can find something that work best for them. "Screaming growling is NEW vocal territory for vocal teaching. I am just glad there are now people out there exploring the techniques and vocal science behind it all." - it's new but there were many researches done before. Many people talked about it, for example in the comments under the post on Instagram about the new research with Will. It's great that they are exploring the science behind the screaming but sometimes I have an impression (and I heard it from many people that teach vocals and also do some researches dedicated to screaming) that they behave as if they were the first to do it etc., which isn't too "scientific" or ethical towards the people who did similar work before them. There are many things to discover and I'm excited to see what new information or updates future will bring.

    Should the distortion sensation be in the top of the back near the uvula? Edit: meant to add also, should thr soft palate/back of tongue area be adding compression/tightness? Or is the entire thing in the air flow?

    • @sibilaextremevocal
      @sibilaextremevocal 13 дней назад

      Usually it's closer to the soft palate or between the entrance to the nasal cavity and soft palate (especially if you produce fry scream with closed mouth). Many of my students describe it as if the back of the tongue and soft palate were getting closer to each other. That space might feel slightly narrower.
